Your First Project¶
Follow this step-by-step guide to create your first beat on the PGB-1.
Starting Fresh¶
Press Menu
Navigate to Projects and press A
Select New and press A
Confirm to create a new empty project
Programming the Kick Drum¶
Press Track to enter Track Mode
Press 1 to select the Kick track
Press Edit to enable pattern edit mode
Press these buttons to place kick notes: 1, 5, 9, 13
You now have a basic four-on-the-floor kick pattern!
Adding the Snare¶
Hold Track and press 2 to switch to the Snare track
Press 5 and 13 to place snare hits on beats 2 and 4
Creating a Hi-Hat Pattern¶
Hold Track and press 3 to switch to the Hi-Hat track
Press 3, 5, 7, 8, 11, 15, 16 to create an interesting hi-hat rhythm
Adding Variation with Step Settings¶
Let’s make the hi-hats more dynamic:
Press Step to enter Step Mode
Press 1 to select step 1
Use ← to navigate to the Condition setting
Press ↑ multiple times to set condition to 75%
Press → three times to reach the Velocity setting
Use the touch strip to lower the velocity to about one third
Copying Steps¶
Copy the configured step to create consistent variation:
Hold Cpy/FX
Press Step to enter step copy mode
Press 1 to select the source step
Press 2, 6, 9, 10, 13, 14 to paste to those steps
Adding Shuffle¶
Press Track to return to Track Mode
Press → multiple times until you reach the Shuffle page
Press ↑ to increase the shuffle amount to taste
Play Your Beat!¶
Press Play to hear your creation!
